Turkish Immigration Law: An Overview
Turkey’s immigration system is governed by a set of laws, regulations, and policies designed to manage the entry and stay of foreigners in the country. The main legislation that governs immigration matters is the “Law on Foreigners and International Protection” (Law No. 6458), which was enacted in 2013.
Turkish Citizenship through Bank Deposit and Property Purchase
Turkey offers an enticing option for foreign investors seeking citizenship through the Turkish Citizenship with Investment Program. By making a bank deposit of at least 500,000 USD in a Turkish bank or purchasing real estate worth a minimum of 400,000 USD, investors can qualify for Turkish citizenship. Our expert legal team can guide you through this process, ensuring all legal requirements are met for a seamless and successful citizenship application.
Residence Permits
Obtaining a residence permit is essential for foreigners who wish to live in Turkey legally. The process involves various types of residence permits, such as short-term, family, long-term, and student permits, each with specific requirements. Our expert immigration lawyers can guide you through the application process, ensuring you have all the necessary documents and fulfill the conditions to obtain your desired residence permit.
Work Permits Application and Renewals
Foreign nationals intending to work in Turkey are required to obtain a work permit before engaging in any employment. The process involves an application to the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, and the approval depends on several factors, including the demand for foreign labor in certain sectors and the applicant’s qualifications.
For existing work permit holders, timely renewal is crucial to avoid legal complications. Our dedicated team can assist you with both initial work permit applications and seamless renewals, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
Filing an Appeal Against a Rejection
In some cases, individuals may face rejection of their residence or work permit applications. When this occurs, it is essential to take appropriate action promptly. Our experienced immigration lawyers can analyze the reasons for the rejection, determine the best course of action, and represent you in filing an appeal before the competent authorities.

To get a resident permit, the applicant must purchase a residential property for more than 75,000 USD in Istanbul and other big cities. This amount is 50,000 USD in smaller cities.
Secondly, one can set up a company and apply for a work permit, this work permit comes with residency for the applicant and his wife and kids under 18. But one must have 5 Turkish employees working for his company when one applies for a work permit.
Third, one or his spouse must be admitted to a Turkish University for 4-year university education. Language courses are not accepted.
Finally, one can apply for a residence permit by a hospital admittance.
